“On the occasion of the 100th birthday of the great artist Iannis Xenakis – composer, architect and engineer – will happen the event “100 Years of Xenakis”. The event will take place on Thursday, 15 September at 7 pm. Iannis Xenakis was born on 29 May 1922 in Brăila, Romania, to a Greek family and died on 4 February 2001 in Paris. His Romanian, French and Greek roots lead to an EUNIC event organised by the Institut français de Berlin, the Greek Cultural Foundation and the Romanian Cultural Institute Berlin.
The evening’s programme includes a piano concert and lecture by pianist and friend of Xenakis Ermis Theodorakis and a reading from a novel by Panait Istrati by Ernest Wichner. The concert is part of the Month of Contemporary Music Berlin (www.field-notes.berlin).
